Things to Focus On:
1. Use descriptive titles that consider branding and shareablility. Write interesting title that attract customer to click on it.

2. Website Structure should be 
SEO Friendly. Use all the new markup (relauthor, schema.org) that is available to make your listings in the search in the search result stand out.

3. 
Use social media badges so users can share your website easily on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkeIn, Google+ etc.

4. Lower page loading time. Check page load time in Google PageSpeed Insights.

5. Use call to action such as “buy now, order now, download now” in your meta description with close to no focus on keywords. 

6. Consider UI, UX, and Accessibility as primary aspects when creating your website and pages.

7. Write content for users; not for search engines. The page you developed should be designed to help the users searching for specific query. 

8. Use proper elements on the website like real address, phone number that make your visitor understand your business presence and authority.

9. Put real case studies, customer's experiences, and video testimonials which help to convert visitors into customers and ultimately help to reduce the bounce rate.

10. Use calls-to-action and make it simple for users to connect with you. Focus on increase your conversion rate.

11. Create your blog with content that should look fresh, useful and unique. Visitors should love to share with others.

Things to Stop Working On:
12. Don’t try to stuff list of keywords in page title. Instead make it descriptive or use your brand name in it.

13. Jamming keywords into Meta Description does not make sense as it is not used for rankings. Instead make it a call-to-action.

14. Use of Meta Keywords has been useless for quite some time as Google does not use them. But still it is good practice to include for certain tools that use them.

15. Stop Including primary keyword in H1 tag and secondary keywords in H2, H3 tags. Fit them into these tags if it makes sense. Use additional words for context instead of putting keyword directly in these tags.

16. Keywords in the Alt tags of images. Use a descriptive Alt tag or none at all.

17. You don’t need to create Keyword-rich URLs.  If your URL is a bunch of junky letters and numbers, this really doesn’t matter anymore.

18. Search engines don’t like cloaking. It may Ban your site from rankings. 

19. Keyword stuffing manipulates sites ranking in Google search results. Using specific “density” of keywords has been useless now. 

20. Repeating navigational links in both the header and footer.

21. Low quality, poor, or duplicate content on website.

22. Excessive internal linking using keywords as the anchor text.

23. Building a website for search engines; not for users.

24. Updating blog with ZERO value content.

25. Get backlinks from sites that are relevant. It should not be from extremely tight niche but the connection should make sense.

26. Diversify keywords as anchor text. Lots of links with exact same text looks unnatural, even if it is in your own site. Try to focus on using anchor text that gets a click-through instead of using particular target keyword.

27. Your link building techniques shouldn’t rely on something that anybody could do easily.

28. Content marketing goes viral this year. You should focus on producing content that can be shared and linked naturally. Try to earn the links instead of building links.

29. Get citations. It Informs search engines about your brand name without mentioning your website link. Google uses this data to rank your site beyond links.

20 Important SEO Terms



Here is the list of some important SEO terms everyone should know in the SEO industry.

1. CPM:
Cost Per Thousand Impression (CPM) – This is when a company pays a set rate per 1,000 times their ad is viewed. This is often used with banner advertising. If a website publisher charges $5.00 CPM, that means an advertiser must pay $5.00 for every 1,000 impressions of its ad. The "M" in CPM represents the Roman numeral for 1,000.

2. Sponsored Ads:
Sponsored advertising is advertising that shows up in the search results as paid listings. To have your ad appear in Google sponsored links, you can enter an auction to show your ad if it's relevant to a user's search query. This is called pay-per-click marketing, because the advertisers pay Google for clicks on their ads.

3. 301 Redirect:
It is the redirection of an old webpage to a new location. There are three main kinds of redirects: 301, 302, and meta refresh. A permanent 301 redirect in your .htaccess file lets search engines and others know that an old link has been replaced by a new one.

4. Affiliate Marketing:
It is the way to bring an event-driven traffic to your website via marketing program. There are two ways to approach affiliate marketing: You can offer an affiliate program to others or you can sign up to be another business's affiliate.

5. Ajax:
Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax) – is a method of designing more user friendly WebPages that respond more quickly when data is requested by user.

14. CPA:
Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) – this is when the company pays a fee when they acquire a new customer. It is also known as PPA. Here advertiser pays for each specified acquisition – for example on click, on impression, from submit etc.

15. Spider:
Spider is a program written to search the web automatically to index web pages, find spam, etc. It is a software that follows the links on web, grab the content from sites and add it to search engine databases.

16. SERP:
SERP is a short abbreviation for Search Engine Result Page. The main goal of every SEO is to increase the ranking of the keyword phrase on given SERP.

17. Meta Data:
It is descriptive information on a webpage enabling to identify its purpose and topic. The benefits of getting the right metadata into your code are many and they go beyond SEO to social media and brand engagement. 

18. Organic Search:
Search results within a search engine that come about without the help of paid advertising. It is good to get traffic from paid advertising and social sites but you should not overlook your organic listings.
